COLLECTION, USE AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
When you make donations or purchase merchandise we will collect your name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address and billing information, as well as credit/debit card information. This information enables us to contact you in the event of processing difficulties, verify or respond to your inquiries, and deliver services and information about the Foundation to you. If you make a donation, a purchaser or an inquiry through our Site, the personal information you provide will be added to our database (but never your credit/debit card information). Our database may be used to send future Communications to you unless you specifically “opt-out”.
When you submit information about other people when you provide personal information to us, we consider the information you provide and the content of any personalized message to be private and between you and the recipient. Although the Foundation does not generally use or disclose any information you provide about someone else for any purpose other than to fulfill your request, we reserve the right to maintain that information to send future Communications. We may also use that information to identify or resolve technical problems or customer service issues as necessary, or may need to share that information as required by law or to comply with a court order or other legal process.
When participating in other Foundation activities, such as registering for an event, or participating in a survey, or when you contact the Foundation with a question or concern, we may ask you to provide your name, physical address, phone number, e-mail address and other information about yourself to administer the activity and deliver Communications to you. We may share your personal information with carefully selected third-party service providers in order to provide services to you. Such services may include: processing donations, payments, and registrations, customer, service, conduct surveys, provide Communications, monitor Site activity, maintain our database, or to administer other Foundation activities. We will share your personal information with our carefully selected third-party services providers on a confidential basis. These service providers are prohibited from using your personal information for any purpose other than providing services for the Foundation.
We may also partner with carefully selected third-party service/product providers to provide you with additional opportunities and programs, which may include processing credit card, debit card, and other payment transactions, and may use the information collected by these third parties in order to send Communications. These third-party providers have their own privacy policies, and the Foundation assumes no responsibility for the data collection and use practices of third parties that process such transactions. When you conduct business with third-party providers, we encourage you to read their privacy policies to learn how they collect and use information about you.
We may be required to disclose your personal information for legal reasons, such as in response to a valid court order, subpoena, government investigation, or as otherwise required by law. We also reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we, in good faith, believe to be unlawful. We may release certain personal information when we believe that such release is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of others and the Foundation.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR SITE AND THE INTERNET
The Foundation uses web technologies to gather navigational information about our Site and technical efficiencies and services, such as time to connect to our Site and download pages. This information allows us to improve our understanding and quality of Site viewer experiences. As navigational information is gathered, non-personal information may be collected, such as domain and web browser type, service provider, and IP address, which will provide information about a visitor’s use of our Site, like the time of a visitor’s last visit to a Site page.
You may choose to set your web browser to not accept cookies. If your cookies are disabled, you can still view our Site and make a donation or a purchase.
Our Site server may automatically collect the address of the website that you came from before visiting our Site, which Web browser you used to view our Site, and any search terms you have entered on our Site. Our Site may also use other technologies to track pages of our Site viewed by visitors, commonly referred to as “tracer tags”. This non-identifiable “click-stream” data helps us understand how visitors use our Site. “Click-stream” is the sequence of clicks or pages requested as a visitor explores a website.
HOW TO “OPT-OUT” OF COMMUNICATIONS
To “opt-out” of Communications, you can send an e-mail request to: email@example.com or a mail request to 303 Bering Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M8Z 3A5.
If you send us an e-mail or letter, please be sure to include your full name, address, phone number and e-mail address and indicate specifically what type of Communications you wish to stop receiving along with the specific email address in our donor or newsletter database to be removed from the mailing list. This will ensure we identify you correctly in our systems so that we may accurately process your “opt-out” request.
Due to production and mailing timelines, it may take up to ten (10) business days for email and up to six (6) weeks for direct mail to make the requested change. Until then, you may still receive Communications, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Please note that you may continue to receive business-related communications, such as donation confirmations and other administrative communications. You cannot “opt-out” of these business-related communications which are necessary to fulfill services.
SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Because your credit card security is a high priority, we have taken numerous steps to ensure your payment information is processed confidentially, accurately, and securely. Our Site uses encryption technology, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), to protect your credit card information during data transport. SSL encrypts ordering information such as your name, physical address, and credit card number. To provide you with an increased level of security online, when you register for an online program, we may also ask you to select a password to access your personal information. We will not ask you for your password in an unsolicited communication.
The safety of children is very important to us. Consequently, the Foundation does not knowingly or intentionally collect information from persons under 13 years of age without parental consent. If you are under 13 and wish to obtain services from our Site or wish to provide personal information, ask a parent or guardian for assistance. The Foundation cannot prohibit minors from visiting our Site and must rely on parents and guardians to decide which materials are appropriate for children under 13.

CHANGES/UPDATES TO NOTICES AND POLICIES
Because our Site and organization will continue to implement new technologies and improve the services and opportunities we provide, our Notices and Policies are subject to change. We reserve the right to change or update our Notices and Policies and to modify or terminate the Site for any reason, without notice and without liability to you or any other participating third party. As a Site user, you are responsible for regularly reviewing our Notices and Policies in order to remain informed of our practices and your obligations as you visit and use our Site. Our current Notices and Policies constitute the entire agreement between you and the Foundation as you use our Site and supersedes all prior understandings or agreements, written or oral, in this regard.
